MBCI is actively involved in the development of LCA data for our core products since LCA first started appearing in green building standards. We have cooperated with the Metal Construction Association (MCA) in efforts to develop industry average data for cold-formed metal cladding systems and insulated metal panels (IMPs). The LCA is ISO 14044 compliant and was third-party reviewed. The report can be downloaded from MCA.
MBCI has EPDs in conjunction with MBMA for cold-formed metal cladding systems, including roll formed steel panels, primary framing, and secondary framing. They were developed in accordance with ISO 14025 using a third-party reviewed Product Category Rule, or PCR.
Cool Roofs are roofs with coatings that have known radiative properties that are specified in order to keep the roof surface temperature lower than it would have been with uncoated or traditional roofing materials during peak sun times. For specific information about the radiative properties of our colors, consult our listings in the respective databases on the CRRC and Energy Star websites.
MBCI’s products can be used to implement Net-Zero Energy strategies in two ways: One, by providing roof and wall systems with excellent thermal and radiative performance, especially by using IMPs; and two, providing the best possible surface to host a photovoltaic (PV) array: a metal roof.
